BRUSH RUSH

This is my first project for the Game Boy Advance, and it tries out the basic framework of a card-based area control tactics game.

This was made as an entry to the GBA Winter Jam '23. Everything was made by me within the duration of the jam with the exception of  shiru8bit's Jelly font for "Press Start"


Browser Controls:

Enter - Start - starts the game! (be sure you are clicked in the browser window)

Z = A - selecting things

X = B - going back

Left Shift = L - switching between selections

Left Ctrl = R  - switching between selections


Concept:

Different factions are fighting for control over territory, essentially terraforming to their favored terrain type Rather than directly attacking each other.  

The terrain would affect how creatures move or are placed.  and a winner would be determined based on territory owned after a set amount of time. 


Features I have:

  •An "awesome" and "animated" title screen

  •Card selection / hand management

  •Unit and effect cards

  •Unit movement, and attacks

  •Changeable terrain. 

  • Music and Sound by me (brass quintets anyone?)


Features I would like to add: 

  •VS mode (pass and play) with two players.

  •A menu and unified UI patterns

  •Deck / and deck editor

  •Saving for cards and deck configuration

  •4 or 5 factions - one for each terrain type

  • about 25 more effect cards

  •about 20 units.

  •A campaign for each faction against an AI opponent where the rewards are better cards.

  •Possible re-theming

  •Improved artwork

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this game, since I am awful at tactics games and can't wrap my head around them, but I like what I can see.
